In these times of deepening darkness we choose another path. Join us at our second annual Solarpunk Solstice as we imagine the most wildly beautiful futures for our planet and all our people. A future in which oppressive systems have been replaced by those that restore, where regeneration is living practice, and where every person is free to show up whole and be seen. We are not waiting for permission to create the world we deserve. We are making it, right now, together! Dancing and laughing and dreaming it into existence!
We have the honor of bringing this Solarpunk vision to Oakland this year, a city that has long known how to hold both joy and struggle, celebration and resistance. Gathering Light is our theme and we mean it literally and spiritually. Like a solar garden drinking in the sun, like a majestic tree reaching toward the sky, like a lantern found in the dark of night: we join together to collect, amplify, and bring The Light back into the world with us. Each one of us carries a spark. Each one of us is a prism. We collectively illuminate the future: a living, breathing, dancing, loving vision of the united and liberated world we dare to dream!
This event is a fundraiser for Airpusher Collective, a 501(c)3 nonprofit dedicated to building the world we deserve. Your participation directly supports our mission and the communities, artists, and organizers who make this work possible.

Like Steampunk and Cyberpunk, Solarpunk is a genre of fiction and exploratory imagination, a “what if…” landscape. But unlike those others, Solarpunk imagnins a positive vision of a post-climate crisis future. It ESCAPES DENIALISM by acknowledging the great polycrisis facing the world today, but it also MOVES PAST DOOMERISUM by looking at this great unraveling not as the end, but as opportunity! We can move past our “business as usual” sleep walking, let the oppressive systems that do not serve us fall away, and collectively BUILD A JUST, VERDANT, AND EQUITABLE FUTURE WORLD where we’ve regenerated the Earth, reconnected with each other, have a healthy relationship with technology, and all people are free to find their soul’s calling.

Coming back to us from a beautiful, lush, regenerated future Earth are two time traveling beacons of hope: the Airpusher Solarpunk Airship and The Lightbringer. They’ve come back to spark joy in human hearts and to plant seeds of courage and confidence into the human spirit as we cross this critical threshold; seeds that will erupt into the knowledge that YES! Yes, OF COURSE we can create a majestic, loving world! And the first step is as simple as believing that it is possible. Our DJs and live performers will transport us all into this portal of joyful exuberance and open hearted connection where we can dance and sing our future world into being.

Your presence leaves a trace, and the future is something we imagine together Inside the Portal. Every movement, voice, and breath becomes part of the artwork. Civicpunk America v2.50 Vision Wall
A playful, Solarpunk community “patch notes” wall where people co-create poetic, visionary, and practical ideas for an America v2.50, and remix on and around each other’s ideas into a shared roadmap for civic magic, civic engagement, and civic upgrades.
We’ll pop up a wall with prompts, words, phrases, and blank cards where people can write and assemble ideas for a bright shared future. Rights, responsibilities, rituals, systems, culture, connections ... whatever the future needs. People can add ideas fast (a few words), go deep (a story), or riff on someone else’s post with “yes-and” replies, doodles, connectors, and mini-commitments. For those interested, we want to help connect people into ongoing civic mobilization, relevant organizations or efforts, or ongoing activations to help bring that "America v2.50 vision" to life.

Bring your used C02/NO2 canisters! HandleBar is an interactive, mobile art cart (non-motorized), where identity meets creativity. We upcycle tiny gas canisters (C02, N02) by smashing them flat with a hydraulic press, and transforming them into a dog tags that you design and take home.
Creature Connection Cart
A beautifully decorated small push cart with interactive "games" to help you discover and connect with your inner creature. Participants use their imagination and take away a small necklace with a message in a bottle from their creature spirit.
